HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

People are our sweetest asset and Illovo Sugar Malawi Dwangwa estate is a sweet place to work. Illovo Sugar Malawi plc offers a diverse range of career opportunities in diverse fields and disciplines within the company’s operations. During the crushing season, Dwangwa Estate employs more than 5 000 permanent and non-permanent employees. The Human Resources Department operates in three areas: services and rewards, business partnering and, learning and development. As the HR department we have aligned our resources to directly supporting the strategic imperative of the business and Malawi HR strategy.

HR Services and Rewards

HR Services and Rewards function is the custodian of HR data, processes, policies, standards and integrated systems compliance. The section aligns reward, compensation and employee benefits to business strategy and legal standards. The HR services and rewards section provides support to HR business partnering operations through HR reporting and analyses, and supports manpower planning.

HR Business Partnering

We facilitate effective analysis, sourcing, recruitment, assessment, development, engagement and retention of suitable talent for today and the future for the business unit. The HR business partnering supports the business by providing timely and accurate data, reports and analytics to ensure evidence informed decision making. Under business partnering we manage the employee life cycle (from recruitment and selection to exiting the business) using the best HR practices. It collaborates with the business to foster collective bargaining and healthy employee relations.

Learning and Development

The Learning and Development partners with the business to ensure an end-to-end learning and development programme covering key processes – learning needs analysis, learning design, learning implementation, evaluation and determining performance improvement. The section partners with the business to develop an Illovo Sugar Malawi learning and development strategy and plan that is linked to business performance needs and competence gaps. It also ensures the effective competence development of critical skills.
